End-of-season party
Posted on 28 June 2012 by citymag
One of the best parties in town, the Philharmonie’s End-of -season bash traditionally features a legendary hip-hop or house artist as its headline act. Following appearances by Grandmaster Flash, Kool Herc and 2manydjs, this year it is the turn of Afrika Bambaataa to bring the noise. The influential South Bronx DJ, still most famous for ‘Planet Rock’, is hugely respected as the father of electro funk and was among the pioneers of hip-hop culture in New York in the early 80s. He will be joined on the bill by Kenny Dope from legendary house team Masters at Work. Also on the bill are Patrick and Double P from Clubzone and as an opening act the winning DJ from a competition organised by l’Essentiel.
